The Center for Information and Documentation (CID) is a specialized entity that protects, conserves, systemizes, enriches and promotes the documents, materials and testimonies of the popular and indigenous cultures in Mexico.
The CID is linked to all the centers that document and search information about the popular an indigenous culture through out the country. It is formed by five estates, offering search and reproduction of the materials it preserves. The database contains more than 170 thousand records categorized by themes, materials, authors, regions and historical events, providing a vast and diverse source.
The assets of the CID are the following:
- Library holding 10180 titles and 15000 copies.
- Documental archives keeping 6300 documents
- Audio archives with 33000 musical and oral records
- Photo archives with 108000 visual records.
- News paper and periodicals library containing 1250 titles and 12000 copies
The materials are properly organized, classified, categorized and systemized in an inventory that is available to the public in a personalized manner and free of charge.
